Trans Femme Support Group

This support group is a supportive and confidential space for transfemme adults (including binary trans women, nonbinary transfemmes, and folks exploring their transfemme gender identity) to connect with others who share this identity and are going through similar experiences. This group takes an intersectional, anti-oppressive group therapy approach toward building participants’ self-confidence, overcoming shame and stigma, and dismantling internalized transmisogyny. We will focus on empowering group members to support each other through challenges, celebrate moments of trans joy, and find strength in community.

What to Expect

Participants will use group dynamics to:

  • receive interpersonal support and feedback on specific issues around gender

  • identify their internalized messages of oppression and explore more self-enhancing beliefs

  • explore the impact of oppressive societal beliefs and practices

  • develop a sense of personal and social power

  • explore the power of relationships and connectedness

Facilitated by G&STC psychotherapist, Molly Dohery

As a transgender woman and a therapist focused on working with LGBTQ+ clients on issues related to sexuality and gender identity, I believe that finding community and support in a group of peers can be immensely helpful for TGNB folks, especially in a world that so often dehumanizes us or dismisses our needs. As the facilitator of this group, I will do my best to create a safe, affirming, and kind environment for participants to share their personal experiences and find support and connection in a space by and for transfemmes.

Membership details:

Participants will self-identify on the transfemme spectrum. Transfemme is used as an umbrella term to include anyone who feels aligned with nonbinary, genderqueer, agender, binary or other femme-leaning gender identities. If you feel this identity umbrella describes you then this space is for you!
