First-Generation Immigrant Support Group

This 12-week group will explore the unique experiences of first-generation immigrants, including topics such as identity, family dynamics, cultural adaptation, and overcoming challenges like discrimination and imposter syndrome. Participants will have the opportunity to reflect on their experiences and share insights on navigating life while preserving their cultural heritage.

 

What to Expect

 

Participants will use group dynamics to:

  • Open and supportive discussions around the immigrant experience

  • Exploring identity and belonging within this country

  • Navigating family dynamics and expectations as a first-generation immigrant

  • Strategies for coping with discrimination and cultural barriers

  • Creating a space for connection, sharing, and mutual support

 
 

Details

Group Length: 12 Weeks

Group Size: Group will run with at least 6 participants and cap at 12

Group Location: This group will meet virtually

When: Tuesdays from 12-1:15pm via Google Meet, starting February 25th, 2025.

Group Cost: The fee for each session ranges from $0-100, and no one will be turned away for lack of funds. Healthfirst is accepted as in network.

We ask that folks only sign up if they can commit to attending at least 11 sessions, which provides for 1 cancellation should needs arise. However, no one will be removed from the group if further unexpected cancellations are needed.

Please be advised that, as per Healthfirst’s rules, Healthfirst clients cannot be seen for groups on the same day they are seen for individual or relationship therapy.

Membership details:

This group is open to all adults who identify as first-generation immigrants. Specifically, those who have immigrant parents and are navigating the complexities of life within our country.
