Trauma: When Time May Not Heal Wounds

In this TED talk, Dr. Ross explains how in fact time may not heal all wounds, but that childhood trauma, especially chronic exposure, has lasting impacts on our health, our brains and therefore our choices, relationships and lives.

In my work with individuals that have experienced trauma, I have seen a hope that the impacts of trauma will just “go away,” questions about why “they’re not just over it,”  minimizing the impact trauma has on their experiences as if there is something innately “wrong” with them and consistently underestimate their coping, courage, and resilience.
